Check out the follow up to TW1TCH, and Nick Morgan's Mission to show today's generation That you can, and do recover!!!

Last month, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with rapper/opiate activist,TW1TCH to talk about the work he is now doing with Nick Morgan, the founder of Crush The Epidemic. Who are currently  on tour together speaking about how YOU DO RECOVER. This follow up piece with TW1TCH and Nick gives you a more in-depth look into their work and passion to save people from this epidemic once and for all. Founder, Jessica

The therapeutic value of one addict helping another is without parallel’.

Last month we talked to TW1TCH and Crush The Epidemic’s Nick Morgan about the journey they would soon be embarking on. Well, the time is now! We checked in with both Nick and TW1TCH on the road this week to get some details on what the #SelfSustainedTour has been like so far for the both of them. Here’s what they had to say!!!!

So, you guys have been on the road now for almost 3 weeks. What has been one of the most memorable experiences so far for each of you?

TW1TCH: It’s all been so amazing thus far. For me, the most memorable experience I’ve had so far this tour was marching through the streets of Ohio in awareness of the Opioid Crisis. Nick and I led a march of almost 200 people through the worst dope house area in Marion, Oh. We were surrounded by strength, unity and fellowship….chanting “WE DO RECOVER!” and “DOWN WITH THE DOPE!” as we walked in unison. It was truly beautiful.

Nick Morgan: For me it was a very subtle moment. TW1TCH and I had sat down to eat lunch before our speaking engagement in Tiffin, Ohio. As we were ordering our food, one of the waitresses from the other side of the room came over to me. She had asked if I made videos and if one of those videos had been of me sitting on the edge of my bed telling my story….which it had. She told me that she watched the video “a hundred times” because it really helped her understand her brother who was a recovering addict. Being able to see my words help someone so far away from me was absolutely amazing. Truly God’s work.

Both of you have developed careers working mostly solo, so this must be a new and exciting experience being able to have someone there with you sharing your message. How has it been working side by side with another activist?

TW1TCH: Humbling. Nick and I continue to learn from each other’s techniques, stories and passion. For me personally, traveling alone is a very difficult thing to do. It takes an extra amount of personal drive to be able to go city to city completely by yourself. Having someone like Nick next to me this time has been truly inspiring. Being able to build off of each other’s experience, strength and hope has given us both such insight into how powerful we can become when we stand together. Watching Nick speak has allowed me the opportunity to humble myself and learn that their is more than one way to this beautiful life in recovery!

Nick Morgan: It’s amazing to see how much more gets done and how much farther our reach goes when the two of us come together. TW1TCH and I both like to touch on different topics when we speak so it allows us to cover the full spectrum of addiction. Seeing the positive outcome of putting two minds and spirits together has been truly unbelievable.

So far you guys have been to Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Ohio and New York. Most of the tour seems to be in Ohio. Is there a reason that you two decided to target that area so heavily during your first segment of this tour?

TW1TCH and Nick: Yes. Ohio has been coined “ground zero” for the Opioid Epidemic and Crisis. The state had one of the first pill mills in the country built here and it was very hard hitting on the community and surrounding cities. The entire country is facing such a deadly crisis right now, but a lot of that crisis has been centered in the state of Ohio. We only felt it right to dedicate a big part of our travels to reaching out to those living in ground zero.

You two have had thousands of requests to bring you all over the country and WORLD!! Where to next? Are there other areas that you are planning to tour this year?

TW1TCH and Nick: ABSOLUTELY. This is only the FIRST segment to the #SelfSustainedTour! We will be hitting the entire country, one region at a time. This summer is going to be very big for us, with the plans to travel to those who need it most. We have the next route already all planned out…we’re just keeping it quiet until this segment is over!!!! But rest assured, we will not stop speaking until people stop dying….and that doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon. So the road is where our new home will be for the foreseeable future. We’re just grateful and honored to be alive, healthy and out here doing what we can to help those stuck in place that we both came from.
